UN Women joins forces with Armatis for its end-of-year fundraising campaign

The UN Women France association and Armatis have signed a bro-bono service sponsorship convention on skills sponsorship.

“Supporting UN Women’ actions on behalf of gender equality and against violence to women is very much in keeping with the awareness-raising and information actions that we’ve already implemented through our Diversity, Inclusion and Prevention Committee. So it’s only natural that we should take part in this necessary action”, explains Karine Branger, Armatis’ Human Resources Director.

In this context, several advisors at Armatis Châteauroux have been tasked with carrying out a fundraising campaign via outgoing calls to potential donors who have donated to UN Women France in the past.

Interview with Fanny Benedetti, Executive Director and founding member of the UN Women France association.

What are UN Women’s missions in France?

UN Women in France stems from a global UN entity: UN Women, which was established by the United Nations in 2010 to promote women’s rights, economic empowerment and gender equality across the world, as being of global importance to human, social and economic development.

It resulted in the creation of UN Women France in 2013, to provide political and strategic management of a variety of missions:

  • A “general public” mission, with the aim of publicising the entity:
    • Awareness raising, mobilisation and engagement on messages adapted to the French context;
    • Processing of all the data and expert appraisals collected at global level in order to highlight and share them;
    • Advocating for equality worldwide, by providing expertise and data and drawing citizens’ attention to global themes, including “Women and environment”, “Women and energy crisis” and “Women and conflicts”.
  • A partnership-based financial mission, raising funds from the general public in order to perpetuate UN Women’s work and provide the institution with the scale required to be able to extend its activities to all the world’s countries;
  • Providing the French public authorities with expertise that reaches beyond borders;
  • Networking with the French ecosystem of feminist associations.

This global entity is invaluable when it comes to worldwide advocacy, advancing women’s rights and ensuring application of decisions enacted by States in international texts, through reliance on grassroots associations.

Fundraising is of key importance for realisation of your missions. Why did you choose Armatis to carry out a fundraising campaign?

It’s true, fundraising or “individual giving” is vital to our institution’s stability and development. It’s our main way of collecting funds, giving us the means to act, carry out our missions and finance concrete projects for women beneficiaries across the world.

Given these strategic concerns, we were looking for a partner to assist us in carrying out our biggest annual fundraising campaign, “Orange the World”. https://www.onufemmes.fr/nos-campagnes

Armatis was the 1st company to offer us its support for this operation and to meet our exacting requirements with regard to values in choosing our partners, in particular through its commitment to in-house gender equality.

What are UN Women France’s aims in organising such a campaign?

The first aim is funding UN Women’s field actions combating violence to women and girls, via support from associations and institutions, working with them on three focuses:

  • Prevention: awareness-raising and educational actions designed to prevent acts of violence
  • Protection of victims: collection of testimonies, access to health, treatment and psychological support services and so on…
  • Transformation of the institutions and protection provided by the State: by raising the public authorities’ awareness, working to change laws and put an end to impunity.

Another aim is to obtain lasting support from regular donors, so that we can take effective action over the long term.

The campaign is also an opportunity to thank donors who’ve already made a first donation or made a purchase from our solidarity shop https://www.onufemmes.fr/boutique, as well as to gain better knowledge of what motivates them and inform them of the importance of their financial support for the UN Women association and the beneficiaries of the funds they provide.

The relationship with your donors is invaluable; how do you manage it in order to stay true to UN Women France’s raison d’être?

We seek to develop lasting relationships with our donors, based on trust and transparency. Their generosity and commitment at our side are the key to our programmes’ success.

So in order to stay true to our institution’s values and voice our concerns to our donors, we need to recognise and highlight their importance. We do so by keeping in regular contact with them, to inform them of our actions, progress and standpoints. It’s also important to thank them and let them know how much they contribute to the success of the organisation’s mandate and all our actions via their donations.

So we’re very happy about this new partnership, and more than ever motivated to speed up development of individual giving, which opens up a whole new field of possibilities for the years to come!
