Pink October 2025: Armatis Takes a Stand Against Breast Cancer

Every October, the world comes together for Pink October — Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Launched in 1994 in the United States, this global movement emphasizes the vital importance of early detection and prevention in the fight against breast cancer.

Across Europe, breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, with nearly 525,000 new cases reported in 2023 (source: European Cancer Information System, ECIS). It is also the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the EU, accounting for approximately 137,000 deaths in 2023 (source: ECIS / WHO Europe). Around three out of four breast cancer cases are diagnosed after the age of 50, underlining how essential regular screening becomes from midlife onward.

At the global level, the figures remain deeply concerning: in 2024, about 2.3 million women received a breast cancer diagnosis, and around 670,000 lives were lost (source: World Health Organization). Breast cancer continues to be the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in 157 of 185 countries worldwide.

Faced with these realities, screening and prevention remain the most effective weapons. When detected early, the five-year survival rate exceeds 85% in Europe (source: European Cancer Information System), proving just how lifesaving early detection can be.

Summary

Pink October: Origins and Aims

Pink October was born from a collective desire to break the silence around breast cancer and encourage women to get screened. Every October, thousands of events take place across France — solidarity walks, educational conferences, cancer-prevention workshops, and countless local and national initiatives.

The goal? To raise awareness about the importance of breast cancer screening, support patients and their loved ones, and fund research to advance the fight against cancer.

L’objectif ? Informer sur l’importance du dépistage du cancer du sein, soutenir les personnes malades et leurs proches, et collecter des fonds pour financer la recherche contre le cancer.

Armatis’ Commitment: A Signatory of the INCA Cancer & Employment Charter

At Armatis, we believe that fighting cancer shouldn’t be limited to an awareness campaign once a year. That’s why our company has chosen to commit to real, long-term action by becoming a signatory of the French National Cancer Institute’s (INCA) Cancer & Employment Charter.

This charter, built on 11 guiding principles, commits Armatis to:

  • Guarantee job retention for employees affected by cancer
  • Facilitate return to work after treatment
  • Support employees in building career plans suited to their health conditions
  • Raise awareness among all teams about cancer-related issues in the workplace

Cancer and Employment: Armatis’ Support Programs

To turn this commitment into concrete action, Armatis has implemented several innovative support systems:

  • Cancer & Employment Support Unit
Staffed by HR representatives, a social advisor, and employees who have personally faced the illness, this listening unit offers personalized and confidential support. Trained by INCA, these advisors understand the specific challenges of dealing with cancer at work and guide affected employees — directly or indirectly — throughout their journey.

  • Training and Awareness Tools for Managers
Armatis has designed e-learning modules to help managers handle a team member’s illness announcement with empathy and to ensure a smooth and respectful return to work afterward.

  • Dedicated Health Journey Resources
The “My Health Journey” guide provides employees with key information to better navigate the physical, emotional, and administrative aspects of dealing with illness.

Beyond supporting those affected, Armatis is committed to fostering cancer awareness and prevention among all its employees. Because screening saves lives, we encourage everyone to adopt healthy and proactive habits when it comes to their health.

Pink October: Let’s Take Action Together

This Pink October, Armatis reaffirms its commitment alongside everyone fighting breast cancer — and, more broadly, all forms of cancer. Because every act of solidarity matters, every word of support matters, and every preventative action matters.

As a responsible and caring company, Armatis places people at the heart of everything it does and will continue developing programs to provide every employee with the support they need when facing illness.

Let’s take care of ourselves — and of one another.
